ශ්‍රී ලංකා බේස්බෝල් කණ්ඩායමේ උප නායකයා මෙන්ම ශ්‍රී ලංකා විශ්ව විද්‍යාල කණ්ඩායමේ නායකයාව සිටි තීක්ෂණ ගම්මන්පිල ලෝක බේස්බෝල් සම්මේලනයේ සභාපතිවරයා අමතමින් මෙරට වත්මන් දේශපාලන තත්ත්වය හමුවේ ජනතාව මුහුණ පා ඇති තත්ත්වය පැහැදිළි කරමින් ලිපියක් ලියා ඇත.
දෛනික අවශ්‍යයතාවයන් සපුරා ගැනිමට නොහැකිව මේ රටේ ජනයා මුහුණ පා තිබෙන අවාසනාවන්ත තත්ත්වය මෙන්ම, රජයේ අකාරයක්ෂම පාලනය නිසා ඒ තත්ත්වයට පත් නිරායුධ මිනිසුන් අරගල කරන විට ම්ලේච්ඡ ලෙස ඝාතනය කරන ආකරයද රඹුක්කන සිඳුවීම හරහා මෙහිදී ගම්මන්පිල පෙන්වා දී ඇත.
ක්‍රීඩකයෙක් ලෙස මෙන්ම පසුකළෙක ජාතික තේරුම් කමිටු සාමාජිකයෙක් ලෙස ද කටයුතු කරපු ගම්මන්පිළ,මෑථ කාලයේ වඩාත් අවධානයට ලක් වුණේ පෞද්ගලික රූපවාහිණි නාලිකාවක් සමඟ එක්ව රට පුරා බේස්බෝල් ව්‍යාප්ත කිරිමේ වැඩ සටහනකට එක් වීම නිසාය.මේ වන විට ඒ සියල්ල නිශ්ශංක සේනාධිපති බේස්බෝල් සභාපති පදවියට පැමිණ එහි සිටි සුළු කාලය සමඟ ක්‍රමයෙන් දියව ගොස් ඇති අතර ඒ සමඟම ගම්මන්පිලලා ක්‍රියාත්මක කළ වැඩ සටහනද නැවතී ඇත.
කෙසේ නමුත් ජාත්‍යන්තර ක්‍රීඩා සම්මේලනයකට රටක දේශපාලන ප්‍රශ්නයක් දැන්වීමෙන් ඇති වැදගත්කම පිළිබඳව අපි ගම්මන්පිලගෙන් විමසූ අතර ඔහු පවසන්නේ ලංකාවේ බේස්බෝල් ක්‍රීඩාවේ නියැලෙන්නේද මේ අර්බූදය හමුවේ පීඩාවට ලක්ව සිටින ජනතාවගේම කොටසක් බවය.රට ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදයට හැරවීමට ක්‍රීඩාවට වැදගත් දෙයක් කළ හැකි බව පෙන්වා දෙන තීක්ෂණ ගම්මන්පිල මේ වන විට පවතින රුසියානු අක්‍රමණයේදී යුක්රේනයට සහය දීමට ජාත්‍යන්තර ක්‍රීඩා සංගම් ගත් තීරණ උදාහරණ ලෙස පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.
රටක ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදය ස්ථාපිත කිරීමට දූෂණ විරෝධි හඬට සවියක් වීමට ලෝකයට බලපෑම් කළහැකි මාර්ගයක් ලෙස ක්‍රීඩාව හඳුන්වා දූන් ගම්මන්පිල රටේ අනෙකුත් ක්‍රීඩාවන් හී ජාත්‍යන්තර අත්දැකීම් ඇති ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ ක්‍රීඩකයින්ටත් මේ ආකාරයට තමන් නියෝජනය කරන ක්‍රීඩාවේ මව් සංගමය ඇමතිය හැකි බව පවසන්නේය.ලෝකය පුරා ක්‍රීඩාව හා සම්බන්ධ ස්වාධීන පිරිස් වෙත මේ හරහා තමන්ගේ මිත්‍ර ක්‍රීඩකයා වෙනුවෙන් සටන් කිරීමට හැකි බව පවසන තීක්ෂණ ගම්මන්පිල ඉදිරියේදී ආණ්ඩුවට එරෙහිව ක්‍රීඩකයන්ගේ නැගිටීමත් තව දුරටත් පුළුල් විය යුතු බව පැවසීය.

Humble request to beloved Baseball fraternity on behalf of my fellow citizens of Sri Lanka
I am Theekshana Gammanpila, former vice captain of Sri Lanka National Baseball team, former captain of the Sri Lanka University Baseball team.
I write to you with a heavy heart to convey the gloomy plight of my beloved motherland.
I understand that, as the world Baseball Federation your scope of activity does not cover the political and economical situations of a sovereign country. However, being one of the largest and expanded international bodies of a very popular sport, your esteemed organization commands attention and interest from almost all nations and their population around the world. Sri Lanka is currently facing the worst economic crisis of its history.
People of this beautiful country are struggling to find basic needs such as food, electricity, fuel and domestic gas. Large queues and people waiting for eternity and at times fainting while in queue has become commonplace.
With the hardships becoming unbearable, people have take unto streets with peaceful protests.
However, the government has taken a stance against the peaceful protestors with brutal force used against and causing grave harm.
A protester was shot dead at Rambukkana on 19th April with many critically injured after police fire on the protestors.
It is certainly beyond the mandate of your organization to intervene in this kind of event in a country but, as an organization with a global reach, you can do much to raise awareness around the world.
As a former National player and a vice captain, I appeal to you to consider this as a matter of humanitarian concern. Help us make awareness around the world about what is happening in Sri Lanka.
