කිසිවකටත් නොදෙවෙනි කලාත්මක උරුමයක් ඉතිරි කරමින් ඩේවිඩ් හොක්නි, වයස අවුරුදු 88 දී ජීවන කැන්වසයට සමු දෙයි!

ජූනි 13, LNW (කොළඹ): සමකාලීන කලාවේ වඩාත්ම බලගතු සහ නිර්වචන චරිතයක් ලෙස සැලකෙන, දීප්තිමත් වර්ණවලින් ලෝකය සිත්තමින් ග්‍රහණය කරගත්  බ්‍රිතාන්‍ය චිත්‍ර ශිල්පී ඩේවිඩ් හොක්නි වයස අවුරුදු 88 පසු කරමින් සිටිය දී මිය ගොස් තිබේ.

“20 වන සහ 21 වන සියවස්වල සමකාලීන කලාවේ වැදගත්ම චරිතයක්” ලෙස හොක්නි විස්තර කරමින් ඔහුගේ පිළිබඳ එරිකා බෝල්ටන් සිකුරාදා ප්‍රකාශයක් නිකුත් කරමින් කියා සිටියේ ඔහු දිනකට පෙර ලන්ඩනයේදී සිය නිවසේදී මිය ගිය බව දන්වා සිටිමිනි. 

1960 ගණන්වල පොප් කලා ව්‍යාපාරයට සම්බන්ධ වූ ප්‍රමුඛ කලාකරුවෙකු වූ හොක්නි, ගෝලීය වශයෙන් කීර්තිමත් චිත්‍ර ශිල්පියෙකු ලෙස තමන්ව ස්ථාපිත කර ගත් අතර ඔහුගේ මරණය දක්වාම චිත්‍ර ඇඳීම, අත්හදා බැලීම් සහ ඒවා ප්‍රදර්ශනය කිරීම දිගටම කරගෙන ගියේය.

උතුරු එංගලන්තයේ බටහිර යෝක්ෂයර් හි 1937 දී උපත ලැබූ හොක්නි, කලාපයේ බ්‍රැඩ්ෆර්ඩ් කලා පාසලෙන් සහ පසුව ලන්ඩනයේ රාජකීය විද්‍යාලයෙන් පුහුණුව ලබා, රන් පදක්කමක් සමඟින් උපාධිය ද ලබා ගත්තේය.
